Principal's Message
Thank you for your commitment to Wendell Smith Elementary School as your partner in education. The Smith learning community is committed to ensuring your child receives a high quality educational experience. We continuously strive to maintain a fun, structured, nurturing and disciplined environment to help your child achieve all of their dreams!

At Smith, we realize that the most valuable teacher in any child’s life is the parent. Developing and sustaining a relationship with you is an obligation we value and take very seriously. We intend to do this through effective communication, community engagement and involvement. We encourage you to contact us with any questions, comments, and concerns you have. Your opinion and input are very important to us and we need your help. We invite each and every parent to visit and speak with our teachers and staff.

This website contains important information about our school policies and procedures. Please read each section carefully. We are here to answer any questions that might arise. Your child’s health, safety, and academic success is our #1 priority.

Our goal this school year is to assist every child in reaching their maximum potential in all areas. We know that we cannot achieve our goals without the support of you and your child. We ask that you continue to partner with us to make certain that your child is ready to make progress by engaging in the following:

  • Make certain that your child attends school daily and on time with a positive attitude and ready to learn. Having students in school every day and on time will definitely ensure that your child is learning new information on a daily basis which will assist him/her in being successful this school year.
  • Your child's presence in school is important and makes a tremendous impact on the school day. Please make certain that your child is wearing a complete uniform on daily basis with appropriate grooming. This will assist with your child's assertiveness and self-image as well as provide them with a sense of pride as a student of the Wendell Smith Elementary School.
  • Be certain that your child reads every day and completes all homework assignments. This will assist your child in reaching his/her full potential in reading and mathematics.
  • We invite you to get involved and volunteer in your child’s classroom and attend all school sponsored events. This year we will collaborate with our parents to establish and sustain positive relationships between the school and our community.
We joyously welcome you to a new year at Wendell Smith and look forward to a bright future. Thank you for joining us on this journey to restoring the legacy of Smith!

Educationally yours,

Tiffany D. Brown, Principal
